No, I don't mean spilling your coffee on your PDA (or your hand, for that matter). I mean running IBM's Java environment, which lets you run many (but not all) of the JARs available for mobile devices. If you're running Google Mail or Opera Mini on your palm, you've got the Java environment. If you're not running either of these programs, you probably should be! I recently saw a post indicating that the Java environment had been updated -- it's a must-get update. On my 700P, at least, the programs are running more smoothly, a little faster I think, and I'm able to run a few other programs that didn't work before. My favorite programs of this sort (found on getjar.com), include star charting programs. Sideralis seems the best of the bunch, but you can try more of them out. I didn't notice any slow down relative to native programs, but YMMV. By the way, you might want to download VFSExchange from freewarepalm.com first, to make it easier to install JAR files (and many other types) that you download to SD Card. Happy Palming!
