[From Rob at Hobbyist Software] Hi Folks, A few months ago Dan wrote to me about Snoozy - one of his comments was 'You rock! Can I work for you?' Turns out that Dan was another hobbyist developer. He has a day job, and his comment was half joking - but he did want to write cool Palm apps! We have been working together since then. Dan has been learning about Palm and has been writing Power Hero which is now ready for Beta testing Before I tell you about Power Hero, I want to assure you that this is a Hobbyist Software application. That means that I am involved in the design and poke around in the code. It means that you will get full Hobbyist Software support. It means that Dan understands that bug fixes and updates are expected rapidly and regularly (and if he can't do them, I will). Finally, it means that when Power Hero goes on sale it will be reasonably priced, it will come with one year of free updates, and it will come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
So - what is Power Hero?
Power Hero is written to help you save precious battery power on your Treo. The front page gives an instant display of the main items on your phone that can suck battery power (and lets you easily turn them off). It has a powerful 'Power Saver' feature that can automatically turn off a network connection, bluetooth or Infrared x mins after you turn off your Treo. It lets you set schedules to control the phone connection, screen brightness, keyboard light, etc. Finally it has an experimental feature (in preferences) that turns on bluetooth when a call comes in. The idea is that you can leave bluetooth off, and keep your bluetooth headset on. When a call comes in, Power Hero turns on bluetooth and the call is routed to your headset. (this last feature is definitely in the experimental stage, but it seems to work on my 680). If you'd like to join the beta, please download Power Hero from the bottom of the Hobbyist Software download page.
