One of my favorite weather programs is 4cast from shsh.com. It's both informative, and up to date and presents me with the weather data that I need. Let me explain why I like this program to you. Firstly as the screenshot to the left shows you, I can display the present weather conditions which rotates with the forecasted weather conditions for the day and this information is shown with weather conditions for forthcoming days and as you can see from the image to the left it's mostly cloudy at the moment and it's not wrong there, as their is a scheduled storm set to hit in the coming hours.
If I press my navigation key down I am met with another screen shot which if you [click here] you will see and thats the present weather conditions for my location, a steady barometer reading and a gusty wind shows that conditions at present may not be perfect but they are a foreteller for what is to come later today. It also displays the sunrise and sunset for my location, thus being Manchester.
Again another press down of the navigation key displays the written text of the forecast for the evening and overnight period and [click here for the image] as you can see the forecast predicts win and rain as the storm moves in but at least it will be mild. Notice that throughout these screens I can, should I wish to change the units to celsius. You will also notice that I can refresh the forecast at any time by pressing the refresh icon at the top of the display and additionally cancel any download of present and forecast weather conditions, again, should I wish to. 4cast uses the weather data from Yahoo Weather which I have found to be accurate and available for the locations that I have selected.
Additionally you may also select a weather location that may not be in the database providing you know the relevant METAR weather code for your chosen location. I did this easily for my chosen location, Central Park in New York City.
Lastly by pressing the down key again I am met with the predicted weather conditions for the forthcoming days in text format, again clearly described with wind, weather conditions and temperature all clearly marked out.
In drawing conclusion my own personal opinion is that this is the best Palm weather program available. It meets my own personal; requirements of being able to display weather conditions for both the UK and the US, the two places I spend most of my time. It gives accurate present weather conditions as well as forecast conditions. Lets not forget that you can download weather maps of your chosen area [see screenshot here]. Drawing conclusion 4Cast receives a well deserved 10 out of 10, no negative points to mention and in my opinion is the best weather program available for Palm OS.
The program normally retails for $10.95 but it is currently on special offer for $9.95 and there is also a free trial available for you to take advantage of.
