Taking a look at TripBoss, part1, entering flight planning detals

When I go traveling my Palm device always comes with me, planning my trips can be a bit of a headache especially for people like Lindsey who book my flights for me, I do the easy thing, turn up and travel, but there are even times when it gets mighty complex trying to remember flight times, terminals airports and even the days of travel. I'm sure all of us know or have experienced a time ourselves when someone has gone to an airport to check in to find out the flight is not until the next day. Well with that in mind there is a great program available that will help you plan your itinerary, organise your dates and on the whole take care of all your planning needs and that program is TripBoss. I have been using it for a couple of years, in fact I have used a really old version of the program and when Justine from Creative Algorithms explained to me some of the new functions I just had to get a newer version of Trip Boss. I am at the moment planning forthcoming trips and this week want to look at some of the elements of this great program. Today's editorial is not a review it's mostly just a pointer at to some of the great features associated with Trip Boss. Take a look at some of the screenshots below.

Adding your trip details: the basics

The first screenshot above, you can see that I an entering the details that I have planned for New York in a couple of weeks. A nice easy screen where I an add my details and as you can see I have named the trip and I am met with additional fields should I feel it necessary to add these details and can I point out that these fields are optional, you can add as a little or as much information as you like.

Adding your trip details: the basics 2

I'm adding some further details into my fields now, such as dates tralling destination and how many people are traveling. Summary allows me to add extra notes should I wish which is a neat idea.

Adding my flight details easily

I'm amazed at the much ease of use and assistance there is when inputting details into the Trip Boss program. The screenshot above clearly shows that I am adding my flight details into the system, I just select the Airline selector and I can automatically find the British Airways selector, it's automatically there, now that's ease of use, I can add the flight number in myself, all very easily. My destination in this case, I am returning from JFK, New York and final destination, Manchester in the UK. I can add my seat, club class, even what kind of meal I have asked for. If the flight has not been confirmed it allows me dates to add when my booking will be confirmed. It's all very easy to navigate around the screen and when you have added all your flight details your met with a great summary of your journey and this brings me onto the next section.

Summary of your trip

The screenshot above shows my trip summary, all nicely displayed for me so I know my times, my travel dates and of course any other travel arrangements. From this screen I can see I have scrolled down the screen slightly, it's showing that my flight arrives into JFK at lunch time, it also shows that I am being picked up from the airport so no further transportation worries needed. Now further down the screen we see the days that I am in NYC and then it shows that I have a flight booked for the return to the UK on the 17th January at 5:00pm. Now if I was to select any of the travel details that you see on the screen such as a flight, it would open up the details for that flight and allow me to edit accordingly, this is great because it takes into account any flight changes I may have and I can also notes about specific flights too, which is a neat feature because I tag all sorts of information to the notes.

So that's just a quick summary of how I use Trip Boss to input my flight data into Trip Boss and how it works for me. This forthcoming week I will be looking at it looks at other aspects of Trip Boss and how it can assist. In the meantime you can get TripBoss from Creative Algorithms where a free trial of the program is available. It retails for the great price of $34.95 and as I am sure you will see as the week goes by it's certainly worth the money and more.
