Where My Treo Has Led Me

[From Antoine of MMM (Laurel, MD, USA)] Greetings to all at PA. As many of you know, I tend to chat a lot about my Treo and where and what I am doing with it. And to some degree, I am pleased with that aspect of things. I am even looking favorably towards the 750v and 680 (the 680 being a most probable purchase simply because of the copper orange color) as they seem to be broading the Treo's appeal to other users who might not have considered a smarter phone or converged device before.
Where things though get to me is what my Treo has symbolized for me. You see, the Treo is probably the latest in a series of many steps that I have taken since getting my first computer in 1998. Then, I got a used Pentium 1 233Mhx used for $1000 (only to see it next week for $800 and better equipped). My father allowed me to dig into my savings for a Pentium 3 450MHz and from thern on each upgrade has always been about making things more accessible and yet keeping memory of where I had been.
Last night, I completed a memorial to my grandfather who recently passed (you can see it via my personal website); and while my Treo was not the end point of making the memorial, it had a signifiant part in making it possible. Using Dragon Edit, I had started the CSS/XHTML that was used to make the site possible. And then being that I was in front of my dekstop, I used my 650's BT DUN to log in via FTP to upload page elements and validate the site coding. For me, my Treo helped me along the way last night of closing a pleasing memory of a man who was a Treo to a lot of people.
I am grateful that Palm/Handspring/PalmSource made available the Treo for situations like this. While it was on my Treo that I got news of my grandfather's passing, it was also via my Treo that I would be able to make a memory to share with others who many not have even known him.
