"When the Treo 680 was deemed official last week, many wondered why Palm remained tight-lipped about specific price points and carriers. The reason, it seems, is that the company still doesn't know! The major contenders are reportedly in front of the drawing board still trying to nail down specifics and appease general whining and self-interest issues."
"Cingular, for example, is thinking about giving the 680 away for free . . . with a set-in-stone 2-year contract that includes their $30/month Internet plan. In other words, the device will cost $720 (not including a voice plan, of course). T-Mobile may be considering a similar deal, but it's waiting for a 680 with Wi-Fi capabilities that can take advantage of its $360/year HotSpot service."
"In the end, you may be better off just unloading $600 for an unlocked device from MobileCityOnline.com."
Hmmm, I'm with Cingular and if it's true that they'll be giving it away for free with the 2-year contract that includes a $30/month internet plan, I might as well go for it. I'm already paying about $60 a month now with my current plan that has my husband's and Mother's phones included. Heck, I don't know though; maybe I would be better off just buying one from the above mentioned MobileCityOnline.
