New inexpensive Treo almost here! Is a new editorial over at myTreo.net. "Ed Colligan, one of the original Treo visionaries and current CEO of Palm, revealed on last week's invesetor relations conference call that Palm will be releasing a low-priced Treo by the end of the year. While Mr. Colligan gave little information about the upcoming device, he confirmed it would have a keyboard and a touch screen. He said that the Treo 750v released in Europe (available October 2nd in the UK) was the third of four models being released this year. Colligan also stated that he expects the upcoming Treo to be offered worldwide by more than 20 carrier partners."

Smartphones, roughly defined as cellphones that can store personal information and provide Internet access, were once clunky affairs carried only by the hopelessly geeky or the relentlessly corporate. But new devices like the BlackBerry Pearl and the Treo 700 series appear poised to make them more broadly popular, taking them from the Lincoln Town Car to the minivan and the Mini Cooper."
