Review: OnGuard Backup

Over the past week, I have been using OnGuard Backup by NorthGlide on my Treo 650. In simple words, OnGuard Backup is a real-time backup solution. Here is an example for how OnGuard Backup has helped me...

I use the Memos application a lot on my Treo. Often on accident though, I delete memos I need. Before I had OnGuard Backup, I had no way of getting these memos back. Now with OnGuard Backup, I can just launch up the application and select a restore point that includes the memos that I need.

Pretty much how OnGuard Backup works is that when you exit an application, it backs up the application's databases on the card. I find this only useful on the PIM applications (Memos, Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks), and that is all you really need it for. But if you want OnGuard Backup to backup other databases from other applications, you can do that too. The backup process is very short by the way. It takes about, maybe even less, than a second to backup the databases once you exit an application. It is that fast! OnGuard Backup has been one of those applications that has not been in the spotlight, but it should be because it is an amazing utility. The price is not that bad either for what you are getting. You can purchase OnGuard Backup for $14.95, and it is also available for a highly reduced price in the NeatFreak Pack Plus bundle which includes Uninstall Manager and Cleanup as well.
