Apps That Make Me Work Smarter on My Treo

[From Antoine of Mobile Ministry Magazine (Laurel, MD, USA)] Greetings all; I have to in part say that I apologize for being up and writing this because I am so excited while I am writing it. The reason for my excitement is that I have downloaded and installed Stand Alone's beta release of Type Right and it honestly has been quite exciting to use my Treo again. As a website designer (think user interface and accessibility person), I like those applications that help me to do things simply and efficiently, and Type Right does just that. And so I happily rolled out of my bed to get out and email to Stand Alone for this new and most excellent program.

Of course, being that I was out of the bed because of my Treo, it got me thinking about working smarter on my Treo. I am no longer the type of user who installs every new program that comes along. I do a good deal of research on the programs out there, and whether they will meet my needs for productivity. For example, I absoutely love TMP (www.lilredspider.com). I got rid of Facer and KeySuite because of it. All it does is show my calendar and tasks in a very readable format, but it does it so well that I did not need a Today-style program anymore. Simple and effective.

I feel the same way about using RSS on my Treo. Sure, I have an unlimited Internet plan via Cingular (nice and cheap too), but I read a lot and like to just get the info. Therefore Quick News has really become my best friend in the respect of getting a slew of news right on my Treo. Granted, I am getting so bad now that I am reading over 40 websites before even getting to work some days (and my Metro trip is only 40 minutes max), but that is how efficient this program is.

I just like how some programs on the PalmOS are not so much designed simply, but they are designed effectively. As I get a better handle on using my Treo as my main computer, this is something that I will notice more and more about various applications and services. Everything won't be perfect on this 650, as it is technically an old platform now. But, to see where computing is going via this lil guy is quite amazing and a heck of a ride.
