Those of you who may have been sneaking a peak at my own site will know that I am currently suffering from a real pda dilemma….the problem is this, I have 4 handhelds, 2 of which are phones and the other 2 are stand alone pda’s. One pda and one phone have to go as I will need to raise cash to purchase the proposed new treo 700 (I’m tied into a 12 month Orange contract and any new phone before next April is going to have to be sim-free).
The question of course is which 2 will go? At the moment I’m back to using the treo 650 for phone, email, internet, RSS feeds and games purposes whilst the pda (sony ux50) is handling all the heavy duty work data. Never mind all this converged / deconverged/ single / double device nonsense….I say you can use a treo and have a separate pda if, as in my case, you use the two devices for completely different purposes.
At the moment then my Nokia N80 and the TX are heading for the great pda heaven in the sky…otherwise known as ebay. I’ve got a feeling the treo will edge out the Nokia…not because it’s a vastly superior device in terms of specs (in this respect it lags a long way behind) but because it is, compared to the Nokia, a delight to use in terms of useability. Getting around the menu and apps on the Nokia can be a chore…on the treo it’s a cinch. And that ladies and gentlemen is the beauty of palm devices for me and the sole reason I keep returning to the treo…there’s nothing else out there that can come close to their ease of use and functionality.
As for which pda will remain in my grubby mits, well that’s still very much up for grabs. I find the TX easier to use in terms of getting around the apps and menu wise but there is just something about the UX50 that makes me want to keep using it…it just has that wow factor and for a simpleton like me that's a very appealing factor. It’s going to be a tough call on this one...let the battle commence
