Skype Wi-Fi phone available Aug 31st

Wow. Belkin will release a Skype Wi-Fi phone on Aug 31. Not only does the phone look like a cell phone but you can connect to a Wi-Fi connection directly to the network without a computer and place calls to Skype contacts, landlines and other cell phones. And it supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 with PSK technology so you can to connect to a protected network.

This may be the beginning of the popularity of Wi-Fi phones, especially when Wi-Fi availability is increasing in many metropolitan cities in North America and all over the world. Interesting to see how Motorola and Nokia will react to this. The Belkin Wi-Fi phone will be priced at $179.99 and available on August 31.
