Hi All! I’m writing from Hong Kong, which explains why I was unable to attend either meet-up. It sounds like I missed a lot of fun and hopefully circumstances will allow me to attend any future gatherings in NYC! Congrats to Sammy and to everyone else involved with this wonderful idea. It IS nice that so many cultures can get together on PalmAddict and in person and put differences aside, especially considering what is going on presently. It was a very interesting and disturbing time to be in Seoul.
Hong Kong is truly a wonderful city and is somewhat crazy, but it is calmer compared to Tokyo. They have many of the same gadgets and the same affinity for the new stuff and the smaller gadgets (like myself!). I noticed that many people do everything with their cellphones, but I didn’t notice any smartphones in my casual glances. PDAs were for sale in some of the shops but overall they are not too popular. It does seem like everyone has a cameraphone and a digital camera which makes sense because there is so much to photograph here!
Finally, I experienced the worst lighting storm of my life a few nights ago. Hong Kong reported that in about 2 hours 115cm of rain fell—that is more than three feet!! Thank goodness I was inside and not roaming around late at night!
Cheers everyone from Hong Kong!!
