World Cup 2006 for Free in your Palm
Did you see the FA cup final between Liverpool and West Ham? Boy that has to be one of the best Cup finals ever!
But the biggie is coming up next month and I am scouring the net for ways to get World Cup news in my Treo 650 - for free of course ;)
One way is to browse over to the Official Fifa Yahoo site. It detected my Blazer browser as wap capable and took me there accordingly.
(Instead of surfing, you could also get World Cup News via SMS)
There's another site which provides Java Midlets for phones: Mobilo
They do not list the Treo as a supported phone and in fact I contacted them and they emailed me that they will not support the Treo650!
However I was not thwarted and managed to try downloading direct the Java Midlet directly using the IBM Java Midlet Manager
The Steps:
Install IBM Java if you don't already have it on your Palm PDA/Treo
Install one of the compatible Mobilo Midlets (I used the K750 one), a list of which you can see here:
http:||www.ole2006.com/mobile/
Install the .jad file entering the complete URL in the IBM Java Midlet Manager:
http:||www.ole2006.com/mobile/WCTSony-EricssonK750.jad
You have to give it permission to install the Midlet.
That's it. I can confirm the K750 midlet works on the Treo650 and here's a screen shot:

3 and a half weeks more to go till the World Cup!! There'll be more WC PDA options for use PalmAddicts I am sure but these are the two free ones that I can come up with for now.
