It’s a fact of life that sometimes I need to work at home. It’s either that or stay at the office more than I want to, and this way I get to be outside in the fresh air.
Let me see if I can paint you a word picture. Right now I am sitting on my deck overlooking the small lake (it’s really a glorified pond, but who’s arguing?) behind our house. I can hear birds and somewhere over there a neighbor is mowing their lawn. My beagle, Sadie, is sleeping a few feet away. My wife and I are sitting at the table we put together just over two years ago (but that’s another (long) story altogether) and Ethan is doing what kids like to do: playing with his truck and some rocks, tossing acorns over the deck, etc.
Whatever office you might have, it can’t compete with that.
The only downside to living out here in the boonies is there’s no high speed Internet except HugesNet (nee DirecWay) which is expensive and was not worth it in my brief testing.
So here’s where my Treo comes in.
I simply turn on my Treo’s Bluetooth DUN mode and dial-up just like any other connection, except that I’m not tying up my phone line, and the download speeds are faster than my phone dialup would be. It’s nowhere near as fast as my office DSL connection, of course, but the ambiance is so much better.
