HIUMP: Favorite Mobile Sites
(TjL writes:) There are a few mobile sites I refer to all the time. If you don’t have these bookmarked, take a look at them.
wap.espn.com: For those times when someone says “Hey, do you know how the game ended last night?” or “Hey, are the Red Sox due to spank the Yankees again tonight?” (Feel free to refer to other teams as well, they cover both professional and college)
wap.switchboard.com: for phone number lookups (that may be a USA-only). Can be a big lifesaver out on the road, and much better than 411 costs! They used to link to driving directions and/or maps, but they don’t anymore, which is OK because
www.mapquest.com/pda/ will hook you up with maps and driving directions. My only complaint is that they sometimes break up the driving directions onto several short pages, where I’d rather have it all on one page.
mobile.wunderground.com/ will give you the next week’s forecast as well as some other interesting information (when is sunrise, etc). You can bookmark the results page so if you live in Boston you can jump right to that page and see if the game might be postponed due to rain.
What are your favorite mobile sites? Let’s hear about it in the forum. Of course there’s always Mobile Google and Mobile GMail but let’s be a little more creative than that.
- TJ"You can call me an American, just don’t call me a Yankee”L
ps1 - I put my name at the top since someone mentioned how they liked to know who was writing w/o having to look at the bottom, and the footer seems not to have always put the info in recently
ps2 - is a game system
ps3 - yes I am male.... someone asked earlier
ps4 - HIUMP = how i use my palm... clever eh ;-?
