I am sure all of you would have found a need for a dictionary at some time or other and what more convenient place than your Palm PDA which you have with you all the time I am sure. Now what Palm dictionary do you use?
What I want to highlight today is a relatively less well known Dictionary software: Kdic which is shareware ($9 to remove the nag) and the compatible freeware Zdic (don't be put off by the Asian font in the latter, as you can translate the page to English with Altavista (I do that all the time as I am not literate in Chinese) and you can see all the download mirrors at the bottom of the page
Now these readers are useless without the dictionary databases and the good news is there are good free ones out there for Kdic and Zdic:

It's huge and the largest freeware English dictionary out there too IMO
There are also free Chinese-English and Japanese-English dictionary databases and other free stuff in the same link.
With the same Kdic or Zdic reader, you can read multiple dictionary databases stored in your SD card. You can even get simultaneous translations for a single word in multiple languages.
What I can vouch for is that Kdic is stable and extremely fast.
There aren't any European language dictionaries for Kdic or Zdic but if you have access to a text database of the language (word/definition) then you could easily create your own
The Kdic package has a simple Dos line converter for you to make your own custom dictionaries.
With alot of effort (and help from Mrs Palmdoc), I also managed to create Malay-English and English-Malay dictionaries, screenshot here:
You may actually use it to create your own simple phrase books for instance instead of whole dictionaries.
One great feature of either Kdic or Zdic is that there are DAs (Desk Accesories). Using a DA Launcher you can highlight a word when in another application eg Plucker or iSilo readers then call up the dictionary without leaving the application. You get that feature with MSDcit without needing DAs of course but then again MSDict is not free.
