Avoid a soft reboot when switching batteries

One of the things I love about my Treo 650 is that I can use a spare battery with it. The good thing about NVFS is that I can remove the battery and nothing will be lost.

The bad thing is that doing this causes a soft reset.

Now 99% of the time, this is the way I perform soft resets now. I have to take the case off anyway, and briefly popping out the battery is easier than taking out the stylus and pushing that stupid little button.

However, when I really just want to change the battery and don't need/want to reset, I take the wall charger and plug it into the bottom of the Treo. Then I take out the battery and put in the new one. Then I remove the power plug (or leave it to charge). That prevents it from soft-rebooting. (It does seem to leave the battery indicator in a wacky state for a few seconds where it may report the new battery has 0% charge. Usually I just push the hangup button to turn the screen off and then turn it back on and it will re-check the battery level.

Maybe it was obvious to everyone else, but I was happy to figure it out.
