HandMap / SilkScreen / DayNotez
HandMap - HandMap is quite good, and it's a full-featured street atlas with advanced viewing and search functions. Maps can be viewed at different zoom levels, and have surprising clarity and readability even with the Palm's limited screen resolution. When you purchase this product you get a set of medium detail overview maps of many countries of the world including a world atlas and USA touring maps. Full detail city street maps are sold separately from this map viewer program. Vector maps for all of the U.S., Canada, NZ, UK, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, and the Moon available.
SilkScreen - SilkScreen is a very useful program that has been around for years and is especially good for those with a Treo. "SilkScreen lets you perform all of the functions normally associated with the bottom part of a Palm device - the silkscreen - in the main display area. It also serves as an application launcher and has several other useful features like Virtual Graffiti, so that you can write in the main display area of the display. It does this in a unique manner by reserving small programmable tap areas at the corners and sides of the display screen and thus is immensely useful for devices with either collapsable Graffiti areas like the Tungsten series and devices without such an area like the Treo 600 or 650. In each of the four corners are tiny quadratic areas that emulate the usual four silkscreen buttons. They are arranged in the exact same order and have a button closely nearby. The buttons allow to globally enable or disable the tap areas and appear in a darker shade to indicate that a corner area is active. Activated areas are functional in any application."
DayNotez - DayNotez is a very good program from Natara Software and it retails for $14.95. "Your Palm device has done a wonderful job replacing your old paper planner for scheduling and to-do's. But, where did your dailey journalling page go? Your diary of thougts for each day? The one where you recorded the days events, journaled your ideas, and tracked your thoughts. The standard memo application has little organization options. And other offerings add little above this."
