snakey freebies and shareware

[From Henry Kong at ppcoc.org] Ever since the advent of mobile phones, everyone gets to play with one type of snake game or another. It must be one of the most popular computer games ever created. You can find 'em on key chains, game consoles, PCs, Handhelds.... Among the dozen or so genre that are available for the Palm, here are the best of freeware and shareware.

Snakey: I stumbled across this gem while surfing Japanese Palm sites. At that time, it was the closest thing to SnakeByte that I have found. Besides the exit door, there is a timer that you must keep an eye on if you do not want an extra 3 apples (which in turn will cause your longer snake to become harder to maneuver), so it's better to commit kamikazi and come back another round. The keys are really superb and the game is a great bash. Best of all, like many Japanese Palmware, it is free.

SnakeByte: It is amazing how closely SnakeByte follows the original Apple ][ classic, right down to the nice nostalgic cobra logo. All the plums are there as well as the challenging puzzles. The gameplay is excellent, and like Snakey, you can use a button for either left or right, making it easier turn tight corners.
