According to 4WinMobile, McAfee and F-Secure are squaring up with competing mobile antivirus offerings. McAfee released VirusScan Mobile, its first antivirus product for mobile phones because, it says, the number of mobile malware incidents is set to grow. F-Secure launched F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus 2.1 for Windows Mobile, on Monday, an application that updates virus definitions on a device.

DailyTech is reporting that Intel announced that its next generation ultra-mobile processor, Monahans, will introduce significant technologies for the hand-held market. According to Pocket PC Thoughts, Intel and NVIDIA have joined forces to help deliver new Monahans/GoForce-powered handheld devices. Intel announced the Monahans in August 2005 by demonstrating a new PXA29x processor clocked at 1.25GHz. Furthermore, NVIDIA announced the GoForce 5500 last month, with some very impressive power to go with it. With these two combined, we could be looking at a new wave of Pocket PCs (and other handhelds) that may potentially leave the Dell Axim X50v/X51v out to dry.
MobileWhack reports that Sandisk today introduced the SanDisk Ultra II Mobile line of flash memory cards for multimedia-enabled mobile phones, at the CeBIT Hannover, Germany. Exclusively designed for Mobile phones with memory card slots, the Ultra II Mobile memory cards have faster read and write speeds than standard flash memory cards, as well as longer warranty periods.
