PDF viewers on the palm
![]()
There are several apps that can display PDF's on the palm but it's probably fair to say that nobody has as yet produced the "must have" palm pdf viewer. There is of course the original Adobe version for palm which is free. Most people who use this say it is slow to load and a bit sluggish in operation. It comes with the palm reader and a desktop companion that converts the documents for reading on your palm. A recent addition to this field is Palm PDF from Metaview. This has garnered good reviews from people who have tried it and has the added bonus of being free. It claims to be able to handle pdf's received via email and bluetooth which is very useful. It doesn't need a desktop convertor so you can just load the pdf's via hotsync. Repligo can also handle pdf's very well and like Palm PDF you can zoom in and out, increase the size etc etc. It also offers a bookmarking facility, text searches and live hyperlinking. It comes with a desktop viewer and will set you back around $29.95. For that you also get a whole load of other very useful features as Repligo can also convert excel and word documents and indeed, if it can be printed it can be converted using Repligo onto your palm.
Fairly recently, Dataviz have added a pdf viewing facility to their esteemed Documents To Go software. It has recently just been updated and initial reviews suggest that the pdf facility has been greatly improved in terms of its speed. It can also receive pdf's and other types of docs via email and also comes with a desktop companion. Latest version will cost you $49.95 for the Premium edition although you can update from version 7 for around $29.95. Most newer palms come with version 7 so you can upgrade for the lower price.
Repligo and DocsToGo offer fully featured trial versions for 30 days so you can get a feel for them and then decide whether the cost makes them more worthwhile than the free ones.
