Lathe

Lathe is a great great program, supports Windows but they would love to support Mac in the future with the right funding. I do see this as a essential program. So what does it do? Makes your life easier and is the unquestioned champ for video conversion for your portable media device. Brilliant, quick and easy. Make the jump to Lathe, try it out and see what everyone is raving about.

The Patriots Club

The_patriots_club
Thomas Bolden grew up on the streets, his childhood a blur of fragmented memories. But now he’s managed to put his past behind him, find the woman he wants to share his life with, and carve out a successful career on Wall Street. Until, in the blink of an eye, his world is turned upside down. A bizarre kidnapping sends him fleeing for his life, his face everywhere on the TV news, and a violent, shadowy organization is framing him for crimes he did not commit.

Desperately trying to get back to where he was just a day before, Bolden must re–learn the survival skills of his hardscrabble boyhood. But as Bolden–with just eleven dollars in his pocket and hunters all around him–survives one violent, harrowing hour after another, he makes a series of startling discoveries: about a mysterious woman wanted for murder…about an astounding secret rooted in history, among the country’s Founding Fathers and families…about a conspiracy lurking in the darkest corners of corporate America–and a deadly plan that only he can stop. And in the process, maybe Bolden will also find out who he really is.…

Furiously paced, filled with brilliantly drawn characters from politicians to patriots, from Wall Street players to battle–hardened cops, The Patriots Club is vintage Reich: brilliant, breathtaking, and impossible to put down until the final unforgettable page is turned.

Photobucket.com Blogs

I'm one who loves to find new ways to post to my blogs. The more methods I have of uploading my posts, the more convenient it is. Well, I discovered something new and cool today. Photobucket.com, which is the site where most of the images for PalmAddicts are located, has a handy Blog feature. After a few short steps to sign up, a new BLOG button is added to each picture. One quick click on the BLOG button opens an editor window, where text can be written, HTML edited, and other pictures added. Your post can then be easily posted to the blog of your choice.

This feature is compatible with Blogger, TypePad, LiveJournal, and more. And since Photobucket has a FREE service, what could be easier?

By the way, this entry was posted using the Photobucket.com BLOG feature. And you thought this didn't have anything to do with PDAs.

iRiver To Launch Serious PSP Rival?

Iriver_g10_1
Here is another article on the iRiver G10, the PSP rival.

"The Sony PlayStation Portable has had things its own way for far too long, so thankfully iRiver has decided to pull off a glove and give it a sharp slap around the face."

" Details remain sketchy at this moment in time, but from the photos the un-sexily named G10 definitely looks the part with an 800 x 480 widescreen 260K display and slide out controls. The OS is Windows Mobile 5.0, two HDD capacities will be on offer (4GB and 8GB) and intriguingly a WiBro connection will be used not just for gaming but also wireless multimedia downloads provided by iRiver itself."

Sammy and his 650...

01_2
I'm glad to hear that our Sammy is continuing to enjoy his 650 and he appears to have temporarily abandoned the trusty steed, the old TC. This is surprising as the TC has previously seen off most newcomers with relative ease over the past couple of years, it knocked out Sammy's Lifedrive after a couple of rounds with contemptous ease...will the treo 650 really deliver that knock-out punch??? I have a sneaking suspicion there's a bit of life left in the old dog yet....(the TC that is, not Sammy!)

Mozart's musical diary goes online

Mozart_2
I know this isn't Palm related, but Mozart is one of my favorite composers! This man was a shere genius and should be the dictionary definition of "child prodigy". I remember reading about him when I was in school and how amazed I was at his talent. When he was only 5 years old, he was at the piano one day messing around with his father's manuscript paper and ink. Mozart's father approached him and fussed at him for messing with his things and then was shocked to see his young son was actually writing a symphony! This just blows my mind!!! I majored in music in college and I'm sure I probably couldn't write a whole song much less an entire symphony! This child had written in all the instruments parts and all the key changes and everything! I mean, think about it; there are violins, violas, cellos, flutes, trumpets, clarinets, oboes, etc,..... with each instrument being in different keys themselves! When I read that in the library that day, it actually put tears in my eyes(tears of joy) to think of a child being so wonderful and full of so much talent! And then of course on the opposite spectrum, I get tears of sadness to think of Mozart's last years in bad health and being so poor and being buried in a pauper's grave.

But anyway, a musical diary by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart goes online on Thursday, allowing Internet users to browse handwritten pages from the composer's catalog and listen to the opening bars of rarely performed works.

The British Library in London has produced a digital version of 30 pages and 75 musical introductions from "Catalog of all my Works," which can be accessed on its Web site www.bl.uk/turningthepages.

T/X thoughts...

Photo_tx_overview_1
I've had my T/X for a few days now and I have to say it's an excellent all rounder. I think it would make a great choice for those looking for a full featured pda. For the price, around £204 from Expansys here in the UK you get a lot for your money....bluetooth, wifi, 128mb of ram, large 320x480 screen and some good software thrown in. When you think that the T5 was launched with a higher price and no wifi the T/x has to looked upon as good value.
The screen is superb and it renders the photos I've loaded on crisply and with amazing clarity. Having the big screen makes a huge difference to all the programmes that can utilise the larger format. In particular, spreadsheets on Docs to Go, photos, Repligo & Isilo docs look great and the extra screen space is a real boon. I can't think of anything negative to say about the T/X, it does everything I need a pda to do and it does it simply and very capably. As I miss a built in keyboard I bought KeyLink from Tapsmart. This is an amazing programme which links your pda to your pc and you can type on the pc into your pda, I find it very useful and reliable. I've also got myself a 512mb card and I'm finally going to try and get some video/dvd transferred onto the T/X...I've been meaning to do that for ages but have never got around to doing it, mainly because I don't know how to 'rip" the dvd's on my mac, I've got TCPM on my T/X already so I've raring to go!!
Overall I would have to say that on first impressions this is the best pda I've ever owned.
