Now Volvo drivers have yet another excuse to throw caution to the wind behind the wheel. With night time driving so prevalent during the holidays, lots of folks tend to doze off behind the wheel this time of year. To keep a little nap from turning fatal, Volvo has developed a driver alert system that sounds an alarm whenever the car thinks its driver might be snoozing. The system uses a camera to monitor the road while you're driving and, when it senses the car is moving in an uncontrolled way, it sounds off to let you know. Hopefully you're not a heavy sleeper.

Not exactly Palm related but it is rather techy. This reminds me of one of my cousins. She fell asleep once while driving and ran into a utility pole! Ouch! She could have used such a device in her car. One time she was driving down the 4 lane and her mother was in the car with her. My cousin has very bad eye sight and either hadn't gotten glasses yet or just wasn't wearing them at the time. She was driving along an area near some road construction and after a little while, she asked her mother, "Mama, what's that noise that I keep hearing?" My aunt said, "Well I guess it's all those orange barrells you keep hitting." LOL, that's pretty bad eye sight not to notice that you were hitting construction barrells! I sure wouldn't have wanted to have been in the car with her while she was driving! I guess she needed one of those cars that can sense when it's about to come into contact with something!
